John Gregory Downing and the Downing Law Firm handle real estate and bankruptcy matters from offices in Truckee and San Jose.

The Downing Law Firm has over 15 years of experience handling real estate litigation matters, including disputes involving brokers, lenders, landlords and tenants, homeowner’s associations, boundary disputes, and personal injuries due to unsafe conditions on real property (premises liability).
In addition to having handled bankruptcy matters for over ten years, John Gregory Downing has extensive trial experience, having tried over 30 court and jury trials in Federal and State Courts. He is a 1986 graduate from the College of William & Mary. After graduation, Mr. Downing worked as a legislative aide for Representative Solomon Ortiz (D-Texas), then went to Tulane University Law School. After graduating from Tulane in 1990, Downing worked for Carey & Carey in Palo Alto and Lillick & Charles in San Francisco, handling real estate, white collar criminal matters, and products liability defense, before opening his own firm in 1998.
Jordan A. Sussman, who works from the Downing Law Firm’s office in San Francisco, California, is a graduate of Dartmouth College and University of California’s Hastings College of Law, and primarily handles civil litigation matters, including real estate and personal injury matters.
